Hi

I inherited a Praktica IV equipped with a CZJ
2.8/50 (the full aluminium version). I managed to
get 2 dents out of the filter ring, got the
completely hardened grease of the helicoid replaced
with fresh grease. So things are quite a bit better than before.

But I think that the dropping of the lens that caused the dents in the filter ring also resulted
in the ball/lock (whatever it is called) of the diaphragm ring getting lost. This ring is on the front end of this lens, and it now does not remain at its selected aperture. The manual 'priming'
of the diaphragm that is necessary with this lens model still works OK.

I guess I need the front lens section out in order
to get access to the diaphragm. But how? I would
guess unscrewing things, but it appears things are
rather monolitic. I do not want to force and break it. Oh, the filter ring is now good enough again to fit a filter (I was kinda proud of that,
given that I do not have filter ring fixing tools,
just a wooden dowel & hammer).

Suggestions welcome,

thanks
Wilko
