Hi all, I've buyed a Sigma 400mm 5.6 non-Apo in Canon FD mount on the 'bay. It arrived home a few days ago and, horror, the rear lens is fogged!! Reading on the net revealed the lens isn't a great performer after all, but it's in pristine condition (apart from the rear lens!!) and I payed just $50 for it, so I would like to try to clean the lens and see if I can take some decent shoot. Has someone already tried to open such a lens, and is there any particular warning to give?
Regards,
Sergio La Marca

I don't have any experience with that lens. However, in most lenses you can unscrew the rear element and/or the entire rear group. Look for a ring with 2 slots in it for a spanner. Once you have the lens(es) out, a microfiber cloth is usually effective for removing haze, unless the haze is within the coating (I think I've only seen that once, it makes things very difficult).

If you remove an individual element (glass without a metal rim), be VERY careful to get it back in the same way it came out.
