I just got a really nice Los Angeles F-1N with a plain prism. The only problem is when the prism is mounted on the camera, the right catch doesn't engage and the button doesn't pop out, thus making the prism a little bit looser than I'd like for it to be. I've tried giving it a good firm nudge with my thumbs, as I often have to do with the Servo EE finder on my old F-1, but I absolutely can't get the right button to latch. I'm guessing that it's probably fouled with grease or some other such that's keeping the latch from moving as it should. Does anyone have any suggestions for freeing it? By the way, Canon really does know how to make a camera. Someone had used a marker to black out the letters in this particular camera. As I was scrubbing the lettering on the prism with alcohol, I slid it back, and there was absolutely none that had leaked under the edge of the prism. That absolutely amazed me, as there are no weather seals or anything else on the prism to keep water out. Thanks, Ben |
