This camera was given to me. I am ignorant of its history and cant find anything about it. I am just starting out and delving into this world of photography, so I am totally ignorant. The lens is weird, it says AUTO SEARS 1:1.4 f=55mm then this long number, 285698 LENS MADE IN JAPAN.. Please if you know anything I really need some help!!!!

Most likely it's a Ricoh Singlex, a solid camera from the late 60's to early 70's. The lens is probably also a Ricoh. The 55/1.4 Ricoh was large and heavy but a good performer.

Any M42 or Pentax screw or universal screw mount lens should fit and work just fine. You'll find third party or generic as I call them, lenses are cheap and plentiful almost everywhere from eBay to camera stores or my favourite pawn shops.
