Hi
I have a good Nikon FM with a damaged back. Does anyone know where I could get a replacement door? Also I have a Pentax SP with the re-wind spindle rattling around inside the body. I lifted to knob to release the catch and the knob came off and the spindle dropped into the body!! How can I open the camera to get it out?? Never had this before. Grateful for any help. Jess

Hi Jess:

Pentax first: The ideal tool is a small crochet hook. Reach down into the hole where the rewind shaft used to be, and feel around the sides for a small ledge. When you find it, pull up with the hook and the back will open. If it doesn't, you've found the wrong ledge, hunt for another one and repeat until it works.

The source for the Nikon back will have to be another Nikon. I know that the FM, FM2 and FM2N backs are interchangeable, because my FM2N has the back from an FM on it .... I don't know whether other models such as the FE might also be considered as possible donors.
