Greetings all, I'm the new kid -er- guy on the block. I started collecting about a year ago and after a wow that's cool start I settled on early SLRs. I have several Exaktas a couple Mamyias (CWP was my first, purchased in "66" while stationed in remote AK), a Besler Topcon and a Praktica Super TL which I bought knowing it had a problem.

The problem that I have is getting the top cover off. I've got the advance lever/frame counter and the rewind off. The hang up is the shutter speed and ASA knob/indicator off. There's no set screw or pin visible, I are perplexed. Can someone give me the secret spot to touch and have it fall off in my hand or some other procedure that will accomplish the task.

Many thanks,
Dennis

Greetings from Australia.

You must remove the disc upon which the shutter speeds are marked. Various documentions have advocated prying up the edge with a fine needle BUT DON'T DO THAT.
The disc is held by adhesive only. Trickle some acetone into the fine gap around the edge - and leave overnight.
Do it again in the morning.
By evening - uou should be able to simply lift of the disc by using Blu-Tak. If not - then repeat the acetone process and try again after a few hours. You will succeed - and the disc will bear no marks. When reinstalling use only just a little contact adhesive around the underside edge of the disc. In this way it will be no hassle to remove it again at some later servicing date.

Hope this helps.
