Hi!
The shutter on my Nikomat FTN suddenly decided that it wouldn't set properly. Firstly I turn the wind on lever, then the shutter can be seen taking
it's upward trajectory, then when I let go of the advance lever the shutter goes back down again! Please help! |

What I've forgotten to mention is that the shutter is initially stuck i.e. when looking through the back/front of the camera there is no sign of the shutter at all - just a gaping hole. |

I've hit the camera hard into my hand and the shutter mechanism has returned to the correct place, but still it unfortunately refuses to fire. The winder also feels unusually 'weak' as I wind on. |

If your FTN is a decent camera sample then you would be well advised to have it serviced by a Nikon Agent ot a competent Techie. Your described symptoms indicate mislatching of the shutter cocking process and to address such it is a "mirror-box out" job - which is no task other than for the well experienced.

Sorry i've been so very long replying and thanks for your diagnosis albeit a little grim. Though I must confess it is about time it had a CLA etc. anyway.
