I have a Primo Jr. which has a bit of oil on the shutter leaves, causing the shutter firing to be somewhat sluggish. I've done a lot of shutter cleaning on various old 35mm rangefinders (though not in the last ten years), and I'd like to know if there are any oddities re: this particular camera. If anyone has experience dealing with it, I'd appreciate a bit of direction. If it's just the old "remove front ring by friction, take spanner, remove front cell, open camera, take spanner, remove rear cell, flood with you favorite cleaner" which is pretty standard in RF cameras, I guess I can muddle through on my own. Speaking of cleaners/solvents, is there any big difference between using Ronsonol or anhydrous isopropyl alcohol as a cleaner? I used to use the latter with good results, but if lighter fluid is more effective or less destructive, I'd be interested in knowing. |
