I tried fixing an old, dirty konica C35 today. I had to re-solder the wires to the battery chamber as they were both shot. I finally got it together and noticed the meter working. Cool.

But it is still firing at one speed and at one aperture. It seems to be at f16 and the standard no-battery speed. Does anyone know what might be wrong or what I should check for? If there's an easy fix I'd like to try :-)

Does 'resolder' imply replacement, in other words, did you have that camera apart? If so, chances are high to cause havoc to the mechanism. There is, for example, a tiny x-shaped spring at the bottom. If it is unhooked or gone the shutter won't work (please note that shutter/aperture blades are identical). Default aperture without a battery definitely is f2,8. So on second thoughts it may well be that your shutter is gummed up and the blades are stuck at smallest opening, f16.

Thanks Wernerjb, I did have the camera taken apart. It's interesting that the shutter and the aperture is identical. I'll have another look at it tonight.
