The focusing is nice and smooth but the aperture ring is very stiff. Have done the usual research, but don't know if, hypothetically, I wanted to address this problem would I go through the front or the back of the lens to get to the gear? Seems like the front but...
The shutter and aperture blades are clean so I doubt it is worth doing, but I am curious and an addicted tinkerer. Uh oh.

The aperture ring is a long way back. You can reach it from the front, and probably get enough access to clean it, though I don't think you can remove it. There's a whole stack of stuff that you have to remove en route: a very thin retaining ring, the front ID ring, meter window plate, teh filter thread ring, the shutter speed ring and the ASA ring all come off the front before you get to the aperture ring.
