I have a Nikon FG that is electrically dead. New Batteries, but no voltages on PCB and no LED light up. Has anyone else had this problem ? |

Is this a new camera to you or did it work previously for you? Obviously, the first thing to do is to check the battery connections. Use an eraser to clean the contact areas - both on the inside of the cover and inside the compartment as well. You could also swab both areas with a Q-tip and alcohol (vodka works fine). When cleaning in the compartment, make sure the little contact spring is pointing upward a bit, toward the cover end of the compartment, so you get good contact. If that little metal spring is missing (i.e. broken off) you could fold up a small piece of aluminum foil to fit down in the bottom in order to make tight contact with the battery. If there is any evidence of battery corrosion in the compartment and the above doesn't work it may indicate that some wiring has be corroded away inside, in which case you'd have to open up the camera - i.e. take off the bottom to have a look for anything obvious. |

Are you aware that the Nikon FG is electrically dead until after two blind exposures are made after closing the camera back ?
Sometimes we chase probems which aren't there :-)
