I have a canonet QL17 Giii, which all works fine except when the exposure needle goes into the red it tends to get stuck there, locking the shutter release. I can usually release the needle again by giving it a small knock.
Do you think lubricating the needle somehow would fix this. Would this be difficult to do?

Many thanks.

There are several reasons why a meter needle behaves like that, the most probable one is it is sticky and clings to its upper stop post and needs cleaning, which means you have to take off the camera's top cap. Rick Oleson's repair notes may be of help: http://rick_oleson.tripod.com/index-30.html
Any work done on the meter requires the ultimate care, as it is very delicate, W.
