My LCD display has gone blank in the camera.....BestBuy says I cracked it and won't honor the warranty.....

Looking at the screen, there is no external crack, but when you turn the camera on, it looks like a crack, with a thin white line through it, surrounded by a black cloud about 1/16" on each side of the white line...

I am the only one that uses this camera, and it's kept in a case all the time, so there was no abuse....are these LCD displays known to crack?

This really isn't a topic for this forum, the DSC-W7 is hardly a classic - I doubt it ever will be. To answer your question - your description of the damage is a typical example of LCD damage. It does not take much to damage a screen, a slight knock in the right place is all it needs. You do not have to abuse the camera. I guess your warranty does not cover accidental damage, read the small print carefully. Your best bet would be to approach Sony direct, I have known them repair/exchange items for the sake of customer relations - however I am in the UK and it may be different where you are. It really depends on the person that deals with your complaint.
