Hi,
I have recently bought a Praktica MTL3 with a 35mm Yashinon lens.
It appears to have fungus or a haze on the back of the front element.
I have unscrewed the front piece of the lens(with filter thread) & I have removed the shiny ring enabling me to remove the front group of glass.
I cannot work out how to seperate the front element - it has slots for a "C" spanner, that I don't have - but it really is tight if this is the case, as I can get a reasonable grip on it.
Any ideas greatly appreciated,
Cheers,
Colin

SOmetimes they put a dab of laquor at one spot on the threads of the round ring. If you have that, use a little acetone on a q-tip to get off. Watch out for plastic parts, the acetone will damage them, the older lenses were mostly metal so it shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks for that advice Scanogram.
I used some cheap nail varnish remover (with acetone in it) & it has done the job nicely.
I have managed to separate the elements (apart from the glued ones, obviously) & given them all a good clean. Just running a test film through now, to see how it performs.
Thanks again,
Colin
