I have an errant shutter. If fails to close before exposure. Disassembled and in my hands I can't figure out how it opens for focusing.

Can anyone point me to the problem or is opening of the shutter for focus only possible when mounted on the camera.

Well I see you got it working. There is a small cam that gets pushed in as the tab comes around that pushes the cam in which in turn closes the shutter before exposure. The tiny spring tends to either slip it's post, breaks or just needs some lube in the moving parts associated with it.

Thanks for the reply Paul. I discovered that cam and it was well stuck due to crud. I light cleaning was in order.
