Can anyone help me repair a mirror that won't return? After exposure, the mirror will sometimes drop on 1/1000, but not always. Never on other speeds. The lever on the right wall of the mirror box does not clear the mirror release lever. Help! Much thanks. DS

Have never opened up a Canonflex - but it is the closing of the second curtain which triggers the mirror down.
I would remove the baseplate and toothpick probe to locate whatever the faulty interface. I would take bets that you'll find the mechanism stiff and gunked with dried out grease/lube.

You might also check the mirror buffer. It might have deteriorated into sticky gunk foam and thereby causing the mirror to stick in the up position. Solution to that one is obvious.
