Well, I've run a film through the Bessa (thanks all for the hints getting it back together), these are the results http://picasaweb.google.co.uk/londondailyphoto/BessaTestReel One reasonable image (http://picasaweb.google.co.uk/londondailyphoto/BessaTestReel/photo#5216978087592 570530) but the rest aren't much, plus there seems to be a problem with the lens not being parallel to the film

With my RF Bessa I also experienced that the lens sometimes was not completely parallel to the film plane. Reason was that it did not completely click into it's locked position when the camera was opened. Try to pull the lens a little on the side which is not attached to front cover (left side of the lens if looked at it from the front).

Hope it helps.
Martin
