I recently was given a Vitesa and I can't get the camera to open. I followed the directions in the manual, but that doesn't work. The combi-plunger and the release buttom are locked down. The release buttom is flush with the surface of the camera is that correct? I don't know what the model is and it has no light meter. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank You
Joe

No. You could only be referring to the "barn-doors" Vitessa model. The doors open and the plunger auto-extends when the shutter-release button is depressed. The shutter release button should not be flush with the camera top-plate. It should be standing proud at all times. Have you misinterpreted the User Manual and are mistakenly using the film rewind sprocket release button as under the camera's baseplate ?

Yes, this is a "barn-door" Vitessa model. The release button is flush or a little lower than the surface and the combi-plunger is in the locked down position. Regarding the release button when I look down upon it I see a hollow tube and I am assuming that this is not what I should see, there should be a top or maybe another piece that goes into this open tube. So I am in a quandry as to how to proceed. I know absolutely nothing about the history of the camera.
Thanks,
Joe
