Hello, my Canon AE-1 was working fine until it had no power. I figured it was the battery so I found a new one. It is the correct battery, but when I put it inside the camera there is still no power. When I press the button to check the battery meter nothing happens. Any suggestions as to why the camera isn't working are appreciated. Thanks.

A dead battery check suggests a lost connection from the battery. If you're lucky it might just be corrosion on the terminals; the next thing I'd look for is a corroded and broken wire at the solder joint of the (-) battery terminal.

Or the new battery might also be dead. It's rare, but it happens and can lead to a lot of unnecessary work. Try a known good battery. (voice of frustrating experience!....)

You need to check the details of battery on its cover. I feel you need to ask the battery dealer for more details. New battery may reduce the problem. But even if it doesnot work the camera needs to be repaired.
