On a recent Ebay find I received a clean Spotmatic IIa. Everything works but the Strobo Eye is hooked to the FP sync not the X sync. I am not sure how this happened but I suspect a wire was crossed during service. Details: Connect a 782 to X sync (PC or hot shoe via adapter) produced a X synced full power flash. Connect to the FP terminal the strobe fires at partial power green light indicating the Strobo Eye does work. Looking through the shutter curtain I see X and FP are properly identified, i.e. 1/125 second produces a half frame on X sync and nothing on FP sync. Any suggestions before I tear into the body? |
