i picked this paxette camera up at local thrift store . it has staeble-kata 2.8/45mm with prontor-s shutter. with B-300 shutter speeds. i thought i could date camera by lens only. but since their removable and their was various lens. i can,t rely on that alone. my linds 96-97 camera book says it,s 1953 paxette Model 11 M. 2 reasons i don,t think it,s that old is that theirs only 1 round viewer on left that you view r/f thru and theirs r/f adjustment knob on right top by film advance lever. it has colored section on din asa dial on film rewind knob. it has 4 square cast pillars that come off front place plate up to lens. i,ve checked listings on ebay and butkus website and google searches not quiet convinced on what i got a hold of. but price was cheap and pretty clean camera too. i,d post pic but i tried once before and i could,nt get pic to upload. i can email pics thru email to your private email if need be. Thanks James |

thanks for link steve. on pic of paxette 11 it,s dead on except theirs not even slot for lever for v x m under synch. flash plug on mine theirs just flash plug and this a cast one piece front plate on camera. plus website says it had prontor svs shutter mines just prontor s i,m sure your right it,s 11 but what exact model stills puzzeling. whole camera front is like tarnished nickel that,s aged well. where top is like polished chrome. it,s like possibly whole front assembly had been off another camera. any ideas. Thanks James |

My best guess would be that it is an early model. On the page I linked to, some of the Paxette I models listed as starting in 1953, like the IIM, are shown as having gone from Prontor S to SV or SVS shutters so I can't see any reason an early IIM couldn't have had an S. It does say the lever-wind didn't start till 1954, but that doesn't mean they started on Jan 1st. It might have been 2 or 3 months earlier or later, or there may have been an overlap! The body castings on Paxettes are plated zinc-alloy, and I think the four-legged lens mount tends to dull more than the top cover, so I doubt if yours has been switched. |
