Suddenly discovered that the shutter of my OM didn't work. Upon pressing the release the mirror went up but the shutter didn't move at all. I assumed this was a matter of low battery, and when I changed the batts the manual exp did indeed work. The AE also fires, but the shutter is rater sluggish.

Anyone have a clue?

Ps. I admit that I haven't tested the voltage of the batteries, but they are new, so I assume the voltage is right...

Thanks

Is it working on manual ? I have one that works fine on manual and is confused on "auto" As OM2 is no fun to work on ( too much electronics stuff) I decided to leave it alone and keep it as a OM 1 without the battery issue.

You are testing it with film in it, right? Don't forget the OM2's OTF auto metering will give long exposures if it's staring at a black pressure plate!

As for voltage, the OM2 won't fire if it's too low, so you don't have to worry about it affecting performance as long as the camera operates.

Did forget that oleson, should do my homework... Will test it with film and see if it sings truer.

Thanks!
