Can you help me? The on and off switch moves freely. I sent the camera in to be repaired (it was still under warranty). They said it would be around $250.00. I thought I would try to repair it myself, since I had nothing to lose. Do you have any advice for me? Thanks

If the camera was under' Official Nikon' warranty, why would they try and charge you $250.00. If you have proof that fault occurred under warranty, and proof that it was returned for repair in the warranty period - get Nikon to repair it as they should have done in the first place. If the 'warranty' was some hit and miss Dealer affair - then you're well and truly stuffed. You may have problems trying to repair the original switch; so you should find out if you can obtain all the spares needed, before possibly leaving you with an even greater repair bill.
