Hi,
I just picked up a super clean new version F-1 and everything works as it should except the B setting on the shutter. It fires at some unknown speed instead of saying open while the shutter button is held down. Anyone have a clue what's going on?

Just a sanity check: are you using a good or new battery?
When you try the B speeds, is there a typical period the shutter remains open? Or, does it close before a typical duration?
Is this the New F-1 which has electronically controlled speed till the flash sync speed (1/90 IIRC)?
You say everything else works. So I assume 8 s speed works too (the longest duration?). When you try the B speed, can you keep the shutter open longer than 8 s? |

Hi Aphototaker,
The battery isn't new but its good but I'll replace it anyway.
When set on B it fires consistently at the same speed that seems about the same as the flash sync speed.
The 8 sec. speed works fine and yes its the new F-1.
