I already posted similar question on photo.net.. My story: recently got my Nikon F3HP for $15 in local thrift store with 50mm 1.4 lens on it. It was an amazing deal. Camera body was little bit dusty, so I cleaned it up. Camera works well in manual mode with battery in it (I tested it with film already). Here are some issues I got:

1. In auto mode, meter always shows 8" (8 secs). In manual it always underexposure ( shows "-" minus sign). It does not matter what the light source is. Is there something to start with before opening body? Per my experience there maybe 2 issues - 1) Light sensor dead / dirty / no contacts, 2) ASA/ISO film speed/Exposure compensation dial broken / no contact (had that issue on Canon AE-1).

2. Second issue - backup mechanical release lever stuck and does not move. I tried to apply some force and it looks like it will move, but I afraid that I can break something. Should it work that way?

I already looked in nikon service manual for F3. Nothing helpful there :-(

Thank You for looking

Victor
