Hi,

I've just bought an Olympus OM-2 and the shutter speeds can be a bit erratic in both automatic and manual mode. It's definitely faulty. I've tried new batteries (SR44).

I don't mind fiddling with it to see if I can repair it. I've heard that the shutter magnets can get gummed up and that deteriorating foam from the prism can also affect the magnets operation. I've downloaded the service manual but it's a bit too technical for me and I can't see how to access the magnets to give them a clean. Do any of you know where the magnets are and the best way to access them?

They're under the floor of the mirror box. I have some notes if you'd like to email me. [email protected]
