I must use the film advance lever two or three times before it springs back and resets the shutter.Meter works great and shutter speeds are right.love the look of the camera has some serious brassing but i like that.
The XE-7 was my first 35mm years ago. i would really appreciate any help to figure this out.
Thanks all for any help

Does the film get advanced 2-3 extra frames when you do this? If not, then it's probably just some sticky lubrication from the double-exposure lever. Try moving the double-exposure lever back and forth a few times and see if that fixes it.

When I first acquired my XE-7, the film advance lever just freely moved back and forth. The shutter was cocked, the film was advanced, but the lever wouldn't spring back, which prevented the shutter release from working. Playing with the (very stiff at first) double-exposure lever fixed it. Is this the problem you're having??
