My Super ikonta B miss a setscrew on the focus ring, it about 1.2mm in diameter and 1.5mm in length. It seems these small setscrew is difficult to find. |

I find that '12BA' size screws are usable for many focus rings; I use the round-head type and cut the length to the required size.

Depending on one's location, the cheapest source of small screws might well be scrap optical equipment. Over the years I have specifically purchased damaged/broken cameras and lenses for the sole purpose of 'harvesting' the screws and other fasteners, these items normally end up in the scrap bin and can thus be purchased for very little money - usually no more than a couple of Pounds in my case. Look out for a source from the same era or of the same general type and one will certainly find a suitable substitute setscrew, the remaining fasteners will definitely find a use in future restorations/repairs if my experience is anything to go by. |

Normally i follow the same way as Glenn. Scavenging junk cameras is the best and cheapest source.
If i want new miniature screws i order them at a company here in The Netherlands which is specialised in micro fasteners. Just had a look at their website, http://www.microscrews.nl/site_2009-1/schroeven_2009-2.html, but its smallest set screw (stelschroef) is M1,6. However you could drop them an e-mail and ask if they can also deliver smaller ones. |
