Hello,
I have a fixed-lens Topcon slr camera (no further type mentioned) with Seikosha-SLV shutter having this problem:
Shutter is closed. When cocking it slowly opens while the mirror goes down, firing makes the mirror go up and stays up while shutter closes and opens chosen time (i.e. 1/15 sec) and closes again....this is rather strange...What is wrong?
I can only see through the lens in cocked position. Anyone familiar with this Topcon and this problem?

reetz

It is a leaf shutter slr and old. Lots of older slr cameras do not have instant return mirrors so the mirror stays up after shooting. In leaf shutter slrs the shutter closes before shooting so the mirror can flip up then it opens to shoot and closes again.

You might look here to see if you can identify the model

http://www.marcoant.com/Topcon/info.htm

It may be the PR model. The website states the PR has the Citizen shutter, but the manual clearly shows a Seiko-sha SLV shutter.

Then you can go here to possibly find an owner's manual.

Good luck.

Sounds like it's working correctly. If it's the PR model, then the mirror only comes down after winding the film advance lever. It's not a bug, it's a feature! ;-)

Thanks for your answers!
Indeed I believe it's working properly...
