I got this lens from ebay. The seller claimed that it "fits all pentax or screw mount cameras". But after I have taken a closer look, it looks more like a Canon FD mount to me except that the silver ring (bayonet) at the mount part is missing.

Has the seller modified the mount or is this really a m42 mount? Or, worst of all, the silver ring is gone?

If it is that the ring is gone, is there anyway to repair it? I could not find replacements on ebay.

Thanks!

This is indeed an FD mount lens with the locking ring missing. Looks like maybe a Vivitar? In any case, the lens will not be usable without the ring and a Canon ring would most likely not fit, you would need the original Vivitar part, probably not the easiest bit to locate. If possible, returning it would be in order...
