After replacing the foam I've noticed that the light meter is hardly sensitive to aperture change and can never get more than half way up the meter when set to manual. Any ideas as to what caused this or how to fix it?

It is obvious that while replacing foam u didn't assemble it back properly. Please open it again and assemble every thing properly. It should work.
