My meter is acting up on my OM-1. Despite the higher voltage alkaline battery, the meter is reading low, very low.

The brown wire looks corroded at the battery, but it still firmly soldered in place. If it shows any corrosion, is this a sign it needs to be repaired?

If corrosion has wicked itself up into that wire under the insulation, it might have traveled a ways, rendering the wire functionally useless. I'd give it a closer inspection if it were my camera.

You could always run a parallel wire to see if the meter perks up, and that will indicate the original wire needs replacement. If you can see corrosion, it most likely has eaten the wire enough to cause high resistance.
