Hi
I have just got a great old Minolta SRT101 BUT when I advance the film and cock the camera, the mirror MOVES UP and so the viewfinder is dark until I take the picture. Then the mirror moves down no problem after the shot. This is not a sticking mirror problem I have read alot about as it always comes down after the release no problem.
This can't be normal.
Any ideas?

Check that the mirror lock-up knob is set for all
the way down, may be partially turned?
Best regards,

/Clay

Thanks. Checked the mirror lock knob works as it should - no problem. There is another problem which might be related. The Bulb mode does not hold the shutter open. When I press the shutter in this mode it just opens and shuts quickly like a normal 1/250 shot?

I have 2 SRT-101's myself and they and their
meters still work fine after 40 years. Sounds like
the slow shutter-speed gear train is out of whack
on yours. You could replace the body from one on
e-bay, or have yours repaired and it will last another 40 years.

Best regards,

/Clay

Thanks Clay
Sounds heavy. I'll get a refund. Shame- I love the camera.
Cheers
Lester
