I recently bought this (currently disassembled) QL17 for $12 along with a tungsten carbide scribe, so it was effectively free since the scribe would have cost me $12. The shutter did not operate (jammed self timer, now missing a gear) so I took it all apart figuring it was free, might as well see if I can fix it. In the process of disassembling it I discovered the shutter regulator (Y13-5269) wasn't working. That was easy, someone took it apart (I'm assuming) and left a spring unattached. I hope it didn't pop off on its own...

My problem refers to #2 in the photo below.

Detail photo

1: A spring that the previous owner seems to have left unattached. Do I need to adjust/lube anything? I don't want to since it took me 6 tries to get all the gears and springs and stuff in the right places.

2: this tab appears to be part of the shutter speed selector ring (Y13-5277) which is attached to nothing. Do I need this (I think yes as the shutter speed doesn't appear to change as it is)? Do I need to go in through the front to get it out and will I need to weld it in place? It appears to not be screwed. I don't weld small things well.

Is there anything else I should do while I have this all disassembled? What gears/assemblies should I lubricate and with what? This is the first camera I've taken apart with the intent of reassembly, though I've worked on my fair share of tiny mechanical things. I'm on about my sixth beer through this project (I've been working slowly in installments so I don't get angry and rush something) and I'd like it to end soon.

So far this forum has been VERY helpful, I'm hoping it will continue to be so. While I have everything taken apart and a couple strobes set up around the work area and a macro lens on my camera are there any things y'all would like photos of? It's the least I can do.
