My example of this rather hefty lens is in good condition but it is proving difficult to adjust for infinity at all zoom levels! Adjustment is performed by removing the front focus ring grip by working it back over the zoom grip, and removing the tape holding the scale ring in place. The infinity stop itself is held in by two screws and is adjusted as needed - I can get good infinity focus at 105mm, but down to 35mm it won't touch infinity, and the focus adjustment won't adjust any further! Question is is there something I missed? The camera is a T90. A 50 1.8 lens will focus on infinity so there is nothing wrong with the camera's VF optics.
