I have read everything I can find on using a alkaline battery in the Lynx 5000e. What I have found is about 50-50 yes and no's. What have you used? I do have a handheld meter, but thats just something else to carry around. David
This varies from camera to camera depending on the meter circuit design. Mercury batteries had very stable voltage, and many meters depended on this for accurate metering. Alkaline batteries have extremely unstable voltage, which creates problems unless the meter was designed to accept this variability.
At the bottom of that page you will find links to pretty much all of your other options (at least the ones that don't require tearing the camera apart).
