Posted on Friday, February 17, 2012 - 08:57 pm:        I have read everything I can find on using a alkaline battery in the Lynx 5000e. What I have found is about 50-50 yes and no's. What have you used? I do have a handheld meter, but thats just something else to carry around. Posted on Sunday, February 19, 2012 - 02:10 pm:        This varies from camera to camera depending on the meter circuit design. Mercury batteries had very stable voltage, and many meters depended on this for accurate metering. Alkaline batteries have extremely unstable voltage, which creates problems unless the meter was designed to accept this variability. The easiest/cheapest way to get accurate metering in a camera designed for the PX13 or PX625 battery is described at http://rick_oleson.tripod.com/index-111.html . At the bottom of that page you will find links to pretty much all of your other options (at least the ones that don't require tearing the camera apart).
