When the automatic diaphragm mechanism is tripped the pressure pin on the back of my Meyer Oreston 1.8/50 lens sticks (Exakta RTL 1000). It comes back out very slowly. Is this usually some old grease around the pin and can I get to it easily to clean it? Thanks.

Can not say exactly what it is, unless you open the back and examine the mechanism. The Oreston/Pentacon is a lens that can be repaired easily, at home. It could be the grease or dried up lubricant or dirt. In that case drop some Naphtha or Petrol on the pin and see if it eases. If it does not then it could be a slightly bent pin, which you may have to straighten carefully. If it is neither of the above then [only then] open the back and take a look. It is not very complicated.

Thanks, I will try that. I can use the lens fine with the auto diaphragm pin disengaged but it would be nice to have it working properly.
