I managed to do something to my Canon IIF while fixing the film advance shaft (thanks Brcamera and Rick_Oleson). At some point during that repair, I broke something shutter related. The shutter is now constantly under tension while winding, and it wants to snap back to the uncocked position. Didn't behave this way before my repair. Now I have to wind the shutter as far as possible and hold it there for it to work correctly. It doesn't stay in the cocked position as it did before. So, I seem to have jostled something related to cocking and latching the shutter. Should I look in the bottom of the shutter case (where slow speed escapement is) or under the top cover (where rangefinder is) to find the problem? I feel like I should start my search wherever the first curtain latch is located. It is not where I'd find it on a Leica IIIf. I'm usually pretty lucky with my repairs, this camera has been a prickly adventure to be sure. Thank you everyone for your help! jeff. |
