It seems like this is the issue that everyone else has The film lever wont advance more then like 30 degrees.. the battery is new and in auto mode I can see the meter.

However the shutter wont advance, the mirror is down and the shutter seems to be closed.. So I opened the underside and I triggered the camera and I heard the what must of been the shutter or mirror but still can't advance.

Also it's not a aluminum cap but a tantalum blue one on the underside of the camera.

In all SLR s when u trigger shutter this is the sequence that tales place.

1 The mirror goesup and releases first curtain.
2 The 2nd curtain is released by timing mechanism.
3 This shd in turn release the mirror back to its normal popsition.

Only when this complete sequence takes place the advance lever can be operated once again.

So do not force the advance lever, it wont help solve problem.
Check which even inte above sequence has stopped it from completion. Try to complete it, may be by moving mikror up or down etc. Friction might be stoipping the release of 2nd curtain or the mirror.

This info is in the Articles section. It's called resetting the camera. If you manually push the wind lock while you advance the camera then you may reset everything. However if you can't fully operate the film advance with the wind lock disengaged then someone already tried to force the advance and the charge lever has probably been deformed.
