Was wondering, I got a sweet 'new' Electro 35 GS from Goodwill that WORKS! it has that sweet sounding "thump" when you advance the lever, the lights and shutter work as they should, self timer works, no corrosion, battery compartment clean. When I had the top plate off to clean the rangefinder optics I noticed the POD was kind of a transparent/translucent amber colored thing.
Is this an original POD for a GS? My GSN's POD was rotted but looked like it may have been black at one time.
I kinda poked at it and it is nice and solid, perhaps it had been serviced at one time in the past?

Most likely a replacement. Later PODs were made like the one you describe, and yours may have come from that stock. I'd like to find a supply of them, as I've got a few G models now that could use some work.
