My light meter indicator for my Canon FTB 35mm camera is not working. I tried replacing the battery (twice just to be sure), didn't make a difference. Any suggestions?

Make sure the shutter is not on B. For a battery check, set the ASA on 100, and the shutter speed on 1/1000, then move the meter switch to C. Also clean the contact in the battery well and inside the cap.
