I just bought my first hasselblad last week, needless to say i have been excited. Everything was fine when i bought it and as I am shooting with it the first time i notice the focus ring is getting increasingly hard to turn. Now it is even worse and is incredibly hard to turn. I really dont want to return it and dont have much money for repair, does anyone know a way this could be fixed on my own? Thanks for any help. |

Personally I would return the lens and get the seller to service it. And whilst the re -greasing of the focus helical is a relatively simple job, I would not advise this as a first time repair - the problem is that medium format lenses are always of fairly large diameter and as such the consistency of the grease used is critical. Use a grease that is too 'thick' and the focus ring can become completely immoveable.
Get a quote from your local repair company - a clean and relube of the helical should not require a re-mortgage! |
