this is more of a cloth strip about 3/4 inch wide that was glued to the inside of the sunshade.I was able to remove the cloth undamaged when the sunshade was extended.Any suggestion on the trype of glue to use to reattach it?

You could try something like Pliobond, or Weldbond, whichever side of the pond you are on.
