I like to replace my original screen with Rick Oleson's screen. However, when I try to remove the waist-level finder (WLF) to measure the screen, I cannot remove the WLF.

I unscrewed the four screws. I was able to lifted up the WLF only a bit. Then the front of the WLF appeared to have a clip/spring that jams against the name plate. I checked the manual and it is called the "Front Cover Spring" - see attached.

How should I remove the WLF with that spring clip?3.5E_WLF_FrontCoverSpring

The E hood is a very snug fit, and can be hard to get off. Avoid using too much force, and work the focus back and forth to move the parallax correction masks forward and back under the screen. There is a 'sweet spot' in there where the hood will come off, but it's not a large target and you have to find it by feel. I have not encountered this tightness in any model other than the E, and some individual cameras are more difficult than others.
