Hi, I have an S2 which has had shutter & aperture blades well cleaned & at first worked fine, but now(possibly 18 months later) when I change down to 1/30th second the aperture ring goes very tight, almost as though something is going to break & when fired the shutter stays open. If I come back to it from 1/15th it fires at what looks like the correct speed. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks, Colin |

I have had the camera apart tonight, and this was something to do with the cocking rack - I think. It seems to operate a different escapement for speeds below 60th second. I literally pulled it apart and put it back together again (after much grief lining everything up!) I am not sure if it was the cause, but the shutter speed ring was always a bit tight. I have slackened the wavy ring by one indent and it now is working correctly again. Hopefully this info may be of interest to someone in the future. Cheers |

Colin, I don't have an S2 but it's always good news to read that a problem was solved - and how this was achieved. So thanks for sharing your experience. Martin |

Thanks Martin, I have received lots of help from this forum over the years, so hopefully this may be of help to someone else one day. Colin |
