I have a Nikon FA with a trashed titanium shutter. half of it is ripped out of the camera.
I also have a dead N8008 / F801. I have read something about the shutters in this cameras, but is it possible to use the shutter unit or shutter blades from the F801 in the FA?

I used shutter blades intended for the F801 in my FA. I had to bend out the short side of the shutter housing a bit - the blades were just a bit too long (like 0.1mm).

Interesting. What about shortening the blades with a file? 0.1mm isn't much. just a few strokes with a small file and some touchup.

The shutter blades for the FA are quite different from the F801 blades and I don't see how the F801 blades would work at all in an FA as the mounting bushings are quite a bit smaller and spaced differently on the F801. I think I would just go with installing the correct blades (FA or FE-2 blades)

Well, all I can say is that I did it, and it works.

Regarding filing down the blades. I don't think this will work - you'll probably bend the blades (and break them while trying to get them straight again).
