Hi there,
I recently acquired a Yashica FR-1 and I've had some issues with it. When the release button is hit to take a picture, the shutter and mirror both open and then stay open. The problem is mostly between the 125 and 500 shutter speed. I've looked around and tried replacing the battery but it hasn't helped.
I noticed the shutter and mirror will return when I hit the battery check button, remove the battery, or spin the shutter speed dial.
Thank you very much for your help!

Your second curtain/blades isn't/aren't releasing (don't know if you have a cloth or metal shutter). Could be a control problem (magnet), or just a sticky shutter run. Could use a good CLA.

Thank you for the response.
It's a cloth shutter. I'll definitely look into finding somebody to clean it up for me and take a deeper look, since I'm very inexperienced with this
