can anyone help with advice or instructions on how to free up the focussing on a newly acquired Contaflex Rapid? The camera is in fair to good cosmetic condition but the shutter/aperture mechanism appears to work perfectly with a good clean and slick action which is unusual with Contaflex cameras, so I would like to use it rather than sit it on a shelf. Focussing is near impossible as it incredibly stiff though still moveable.

The rear focusing ring type contaflex, have a small gap between the black ring and the camera body. Usually, on a well used one, there is fluff, muck and the worst of all, sand filling that gap.
If you clean it out with wooden cocktail sticks and Q Tips with the cotton pulled out to a point and dampened with lighter fuel, you may find it will eventually loosen up.
