Hello! I'm Bronze Knight I've just started useing film and I am taking my first class in photography this fall semester at collage. I am working on a Voigtlander Brilliant, that near as I can tell, belonged to my great grandmother who immigrated to the US from Germany, and it was then later used by my grandfather, so its got some sentimental value in the family! I found it when I was cleaning up the farm. About the camera itself its a Voigtlander Brilliant with a Bakelite body and a Voigtar 1:35 F=75cm lens. Which according to my research means it was made sometime in 1938/39. [img]http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m266/Kingsbane/IMG_1733.jpg[\img] [img]http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m266/Kingsbane/IMG_1733.jpg[\img] I've got two problems with the camera at the moment. The first is that I have this "extra" spring. It just fell out of the camera when I had it open and I have no idea where it's suppose to go or do. I know that there should be no extra parts but everything seems to be working just fine without it. Should I just leave it out and not worry about it? The other problem is that the paper disk that shows what exposure your on has come loose. The glue has dried out after 80 years. Is there some trick to getting it placed so that the numbers line up at the right spot with the automatic winder stop? Should the number 1 be in the window when its reset or should it be the blank space? Or is it just a trial and error fitting? While I have your attention does anyone know if this case is an official Voigtlander case or did it come from some where else later on? I do know that everything else on the camera works I've put a roll of film through it. I'm rather happy with this one, despite the vignetting from the lens hood, thought it was big enough. |

I figured out where that spring goes, in the film winding nob. I lightly glued the paper exposure disk in place. After a lot playing around with it I think I have it in the right place. Going to have to put a roll of film through it to be sure though. |
